Asante Kotoko

Asante Kotoko Grateful To Supporters For Massive Support

Asante Kotoko have expressed gratitude to stakeholders for their immense support to the club in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Asante Kotoko beat Coton Sport of Cameroon 2-1 in front of a massive crowd at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi to advance into the group stage of the continent’s second-tier inter-club competition with a 5-3 aggregate scoreline.

A statement released by the Communications Team of the club has acknowledged the contribution of the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the government of Ghana, the Sports Ministry, the sponsors and the supporters in getting the team into the group stage of the CAF competition.

Below is the full statement:

Asante Kotoko wish to express their profound gratitude to the club’s teeming followers for their massive support throughout the elimination round games of the 2019/19 CAF Confederation Cup campaign.

We are overwhelmed by your warm presence that backed us in our home games against Kariobangi Sharks of Kenya in December last year, and Coton Sport de Garoua of Cameroon at the Baba Yara Stadium last Sunday.

We also applaud your efforts from far and near as you rallied behind us in thoughts across the length and breadth of the country to spur us on in our away games.

We do not take for granted, the enviable anticipation and euphoria you created whenever we played outside Ghana.

We are now in the group stage of the CAF competition and wish to say that we could not have come this far if not for your prayers, support, and constructive criticisms.

A special appreciation goes out to our Patron, the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and the Asanteman Traditional Council for the immense support and encouragement to the club since we began the journey to get the club back on the map in continental football.

Also, management will like to extend its gratitude to the government, Ministry of Youth and Sports, the FIFA/CAF Normalisation  Committee and the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA), all other football bodies and our sponsors for the support they have shown us so far in the campaign.

We certainly will not also forget the media for offering us their platforms to promote our matches throughout the elimination round.

We made some improvements in some areas of our interactions with the media while we also acknowledge that there remain enough room for improvement, and we hope to tighten every loosed end as we forge on in the competition.

It is our hope that the group stage would come with the needed opportunity for better cooperation with all stakeholders, while we also entreat all to contact the Director of Communications, Samuel Sarfo Duku (Esq), and also visit the club’s official media handles, the, Kotoko Express App, @AsanteKotoko_SC on Twitter, Asante Kotoko Sporting Club on Facebook, and @asantekotokosc on Instagram for authentic news from the club.

It is our conviction that there would be more collaboration with our stakeholders while we also believe that attendance would increase at the Baba Yara Stadium in the group stage as we all work together to solidify the gains made in the elimination round of the competition.
