Hasaacas Ladies Win Ghana Women’s Special Competition


Hasaacas Ladies have won the 2019 Women’s Special Competition after beating Ampem Darkoa Ladies 3-2 in the final game played at the El-Wak stadium in Accra.

The game which was full of excitement right from the blast of the referee’s whistle saw both teams selling out a good game to the few fans that were at the match venue.

Ampem Darkoa scored two quick goals in the 19th and 28th minute through Ophelia Amponsah and Mavis Owusu and at that point it looked that the trophy was on its way to Kumasi.

But Hasaacas Ladies rallied back in quick succession to draw level before half time. Evelyn Badu first pulled a goal back in the 38th before Milot Abena Pokuaa scored the equalizer right on the stroke of half time.

The comeback was complete, however it didn’t come without drama as Hasaacas Ladies were awarded a penalty in the 80th minute, one that was converted and scored by captain Perpetual Agyekum.

The competition started with 16 teams, eight from both Southern and Northern Zones.

Grace Asantewaa of Ampem Darkoa Ladies won the Best Player Of The Tournament with Evelyn Yeboah being named the Best Goalkeeper of the Tournament.

Perpetual Agyekum of Hasaacas Ladies won the goal Queen award with 9 goals whilst the Most Promising Player Award went to Constance Serwaa of Hasaacas Ladies.

For their prize, Hasaacas Ladies pocketed Gh¢50,000 together with a giant trophy for winning the competition while each of the awardees received Gh¢2,000 as cash prizes and trophies.
