Preview: Asante Kotoko Renew Rivalry With Ashantigold In J.A. Kuffour Cup

on

The age old football rivalry between Asante Kotoko and Ashantigold will be renewed this Sunday 6th January 2019 at the Baba Yara stadium as both teams battle for the J.A. Kuffour Cup.

The J. A. Kuffour Cup match, which is powered by Primeval Media, is to celebrate the 80th birthday of the former President of Ghana, His Excellency, John Agyekum Kuffour Cup, and was launched in August last year.

Proceeds of the charity match, will go to the John Agyekum Kufuor (JAK) Foundation for the developments and leadership projects under the foundation.

The J. A. Kuffour Cup will be the tiebreaker for the two Ashanti Region clubs who have scores to settle to each other, having played each other twice, in the off-season, and either side winning at home by 3-2.

Both teams  especially Asante Kotoko will use this match to test their battle readiness for their upcoming CAF Confederations Cup match against Coton Sport Garoua of Cameroon next week.

Ashantigold on the other hand will look to use the match to announce their 2019 goal of winning any major trophy that is put before them.

The game which was initially scheduled for 30th December 2018, had to be postponed due to the unavailability of the ex President.

In attendance will be the Ex-President John Agyekum Kuffour Cup himself, current President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo Addo as well as the Asantehene Otumfuor Osei Tutu II.

Rates for the game include: VIP- Ghc20, Centre Line- Ghc15 and Popular Stand- Ghc10

Kick off is at 3:00pm
