Ghana’s Black Queens yesterday beat Gabon 3-0 away in Libreville, in the first leg of their second-round qualifying match for the 2020 Olympic Games.
A goal in the first half and two more in the second half handed the Queens the huge advantage ahead of the second leg which they host on Tuesday.
Goals from striker Elizabeth Owusuaa (44th), and attacking midfielders, Portia Boakye (61st) and Priscilla Okyere (86th), secured the convincing win for the Queens who went to Gabon with the hope of a good result.
The winners of this first-round tie will play against the winners of Kenya versus Malawi game which was also played yesterday. Malawi, who hosted the first leg, won 3-2.
Seven other matches were played across the continent yesterday as part of the schedule by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for the qualifiers for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
