Abdul Fatawu Safiu Joins Swedish Side Trelleborgs FF

Asante Kotoko striker Abdul Fatawu Safiu has joined Swedish second-tier side Trelleborgs FF, the Club has confirmed.

The contract is for one year with an option to renew for two more years, according to a statement on the Club’s officials website.

Safiu, who had a blistering outing for Asante Kotoko in the CAF Confederations Cup as well as the Normalisation Committee Special Competition, was outdoored on Tuesday after successfully passing his medicals.

He was part of Ghana Black Stars initial squad selected for the 2019 AFCON but was eventually dropped from the final 23-man that featured in the competition.

Head coach of Trelleborgs FF, Peter Swärdh, mentioned that they were happy to have Safiu onboard looking at the wealth of experience he possesses coupled with his recent form.

“With Fatawu Safiu we have an experienced and strong striker who can also play in all attack positions. He is creative and should strengthen our offensive qualities”, he mentioned.
