Ashantigold Limp Past Berkane In Five Goal Thriller

Amos Addai saved the blushes of Ashantigold in their 3-2 narrow win over RS Berkane in a game played at the Obuasi Len Clay stadium on Saturday.

The home side allowed a 2-0 lead at half time slip in the second half on the game as Berkane crawled their way back into the game.

Starting off on a good note defender Eric Donkor put the home side 1-0 up in the 15th minute when his cross into the Berkane box managed to beat everyone and landed at the back of the net.

Berkane were no pushovers and despite being a goal down, three more men forward in search of the much needed away goal.

Hamdi Laachir came close to equalizing on two occasions, first in the 20th minute and in the 26th minute but on both occasions, Ashantigold goalkeeper Frank Boateng came to the rescue of his team.

Against the run of play, Ashantigold increased the lead in the 43rd minute through captain Shafiu Mumuni who received a through pass from Abdul Latif Anabila raced into the Berkane vital area to cooly slot home despite a stiff challenge from two defenders.

Unperturbed by the 2-0 scoreline in the first half, Berkane continued the same game plan they executed in the first, attacking from the wings and floating the balls in.

Their persistence eventually paid off in the 51st minute when Mohammed Aziz scored to silence the home crowd and give the traveling fans some ray of hope.

Hamdi Laachir in dramatic fashion grabbed the equalizer for Berkane six minutes later.

Berkane at this stage was beaming with confidence and calling all the shots.

Ashantigold fans demanded a response from their players as they pushed them to surge forward to restore their lead.

Amos Addai restored the lead in the 60th minute after minutes of pressure from the home side.

That goal ended up being the winner as the game ended 3-2 in favor of Ashantigold who despite the win, looked dejected.

Berkane despite the defeat looked the happier of the two having managed to get two valuable two away goals.
