The Ghana national men’s under-23 team, Black Meteors arrived in the country this morning after sealing qualification to the U-23 AFCON by beating Algeria 1-0 in Setif on Tuesday night.

The team landed at the Kotoko international airport to a rousing welcome from some supporters groups as well as football-loving Ghanaians who could not hide their joy for the feat they have achieved for the nation.

With the exception of Yaw Yeboah and Nicholas Opoku, the other foreign-based players have all returned to their various clubs.

Head coach Ibrahim Tanko together with his assistant Michael Osei was happy with the welcome by the fans and supporters adding that the players were confident of winning in Algeria despite dropping points and drawing in the first leg played at the Accra sports stadium.

Captain of the side, Yaw Yeboah, who scored the only goal on Tuesday night in Setif added that the team is ready to do more for the nation with the right motivation from both the authorities and the teeming fans.

He asked Ghanaians to remain confident in them even as they come together in a few weeks time to prepare for the tournament itself in Egypt.
