Black Queens Confident Of Good Result In Gabon

Ghana Black Queens’ quest to pick a ticket to the 2020 Olympic Games begins this Wednesday with an away game against Gabon.

Coach Mercy Tagoe and the entire squad left Ghana on Monday morning to Gabon to round up preparations for the first leg as the qualifiers for the tournament to be staged in Tokyo kicks off across the continent on Wednesday.

The Queens’ preparation so far has been strategic especially as they have been in camp for less than a month, but that does not bother head coach Mercy Tagoe, who is confident of a good game against Gabon.

“Indeed we have not been in camp for a long time like we would have hoped. But the good news is that we have made steady progress at training with the players at our disposal. The team is far from complete, but we are confident in our abilities as a team and looking forward to the game on Wednesday”, she mentioned in an interview.

She said given the short time they had to prepare for the qualifier, the technical team invited most of the players who featured at the West African Football Union (WAFU) Women’s tournament and won bronze, along with a few other newbies.
