The Ghana under-23 side, Black Meteors was at the ruthless best as they annihilated their Gabonese counterparts 4-0 in the 1st leg of the 2020 Olympic Games qualifier.
Coach Ibrahim Tanko’s men jumped into the lead in the 15th minute through striker Kwabena Owusu who accidentally scored a hat trick in the team’s 5-1 win over Togo last year.
The visitors had a couple of chances on their own in the first half but the defense of Ghana was equal to the task.
In bid to increase the tally, coach Tanko brought on striker Bernard Tekpetey for Benjamin Tetteh before the start of the second half and that substitution made an immediate impact as he scored the second goal for Ghana in the 47th minute.
Winger Osman Bukari who had a brace on the day, scored the third goal for Ghana in the in the 75th minute before adding another in the 85th minute.
4-0 was how the game ended with both sides to meet in Gabon for the second leg on Tuesday.
Coach Ibrahim Tanko advanced to this stage of the qualifiers after beating Togo 5-1 in Kumasi and losing 1-0 away in Lome (5-2 aggregate).
Ghana is looking to make it to the next Olympic Games after missing out of the competition since 2004.
The next Summer Olympics games will be staged in Tokyo, Japan.
