Sergio Traguil Demoted: Yaw Preko Takes Charge Of First Team

The management of Accra Hearts of Oak have announced the demotion of Sergio Traguil to the role of youth team coach after a disappointing stint as head coach.

The Portuguese trainer replaced fan favourite Kenichi Yatsuhatsi two months ago but a run of seven games (two losses and five draws) has seen the club replace him with his assistant and former Ghanaian international, Yaw Preko.A statement signed by the Communications Manager of Hearts, Kwame Opare Addo, said Preko will take charge of the senior team with immediate effect.

The statement added that Traguil’s reassignment is to ensure that the Technical department of the team receives the best boost.

The club statement read, “The management of Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club Limited wishes to inform the general sporting public especially its large followers that changes have been made in the club’s Technical department.

“To ensure that the Technical department receives the best boost, Yaw Preko has been tasked to take charge of the senior team whilst Sergio Traguil has been to his original position as the Under 20 (Auroras) head coach with immediate effect.

“As part of the restructuring exercise, the management has also arrived at a decision not to extend Stephen Abugri’s contract which is expected to run out on 18th August, 2016.

“All Phobians have been reminded to continue to support the team to achieve its objectives.”
